Writer Hack: The House Purse

One of my greatest challenges as a writer is capturing the ideas, the notes, the scenes, the perfect lines of dialogue that all seem to occur to me when I am NOT at my desk.
I have tried all sorts of things to corral the madness. Little notebooks all over the house, in the car -- but then those notes have to get transferred to the MASTER notebook.
Texting myself -- same transfer issue, and honestly I'd forget I'd sent myself a text. Emailing myself -- same problem.
You all get this, right?

The HOUSE PURSE.
I first learned what a house purse was at the end of December, during the Coach bag madness conversations on Threads. I love bags, and I was quickly influenced to buy four amazing Coach bags at even more amazing prices on Poshmark. Yeah, that may be a bit much but Mom's gotta get what Mom wants during the holidays and also I just turned 50 and that's another excuse so ... I bought four Coach bags on Poshmark.
And as I was busy scrolling through other people posting THEIR beautiful new Coach bags I saw someone say, sure, a Coach purse is a beautiful thing -- but check out my HOUSE PURSE.
Let me tell you, I was floored by the genius of the HOUSE PURSE. The writer shared that her house purse allowed her to tote her readers and her water bottle and her phone and whatever else she needed all over the house, so she wasn't constantly looking for that stuff as she moved around.
AND I THOUGHT
HELL YES I NEED A HOUSE PURSE SO I ALWAYS HAVE MY MASTER NOTEBOOK NEXT TO ME!
So I went shopping in my closet and pulled out a lovely bag I have never carried in the real world and turned it into this extraordinary house purse.
Mine holds my water bottle, my phone, my retainer case, my master notebook, a pouch of pens and post its, the novel I'm currently reading, and whatever I pick up in one room that needs to be put away in another. Check it out:

Get thee a house purse and never lose a brilliant idea ever again!
